  • It was fea­tured in an epis­ode of Bill Bryson’s Notes from a Small Island — as the ulti­mate example of ped­es­trian unfriendly urban design res­ult­ing in a dead city centre. That topic is some­thing of a pet hate for Bill.

  • Hmm, after look­ing into it I would have to agree with him. It facil­it­ates trav­el­ling between these zones, but kills the hearts of the zones, because it’s so dif­fi­cult to get there. Plus, grid pat­terns for cit­ies are pretty ugly.
