hosted a talk by Antony Green Dodsworth trailer tonight.

He presented a quick run through of the landscape for this year’s federal election, which surely will be called once APEC is out of the way. It was fairly straightforward stuff — nothing that couldn’t have been gleaned from following The Poll Bludger

and Oz Politics.

As always the talk was followed by a Q&A session. What got me annoyed was the stupidity of most of the questioning. The packed audience had Australia’s pre-eminent psephologist at its disposal, and all people could ask were his opinions on the effect on polls of every single piece of political minutiae. Antony Green is probably used to that sort of lightweight repetitive questioning and dealt with everything professionally and efficiently.

While I pray that Howard will be voted out of office, a small part of me doesn’t, just to see the effect on those who have vested so much energy into the cult of Kevin Rudd — overflowing among tonight’s overwhelmingly left-leaning audience.
