Madam Speaker, you were elected to lead
Nancy Pelosi had a grand plan for the first 100 hours, but it seems she neglected to plan for the next 17,431. The Democratic mandate was clear, even if the goals were unexceptional — a modest increase in the minimum wage, some college education reform among, and the elephant-created mess in the room, a new approach to the war in Iraq. But after an initial burst of enthusiasm, Congress has become a rudderless eunuch while the President remains a lame-duck. How long can America continue with such a dearth of leadership?
Pelosi took office to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” This is her primary objective. Obviously realpolitik gets in the way, but with the President’s approval at near record lows, why is she afraid to impeach The Ballad of Jack and Rose video Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze divx Flightplan hd Lac des morts vivants, Le hd ?
If it is because she does not want to rock the boat and damage the Democrats’ chances of re-taking the White House, she has misjudged the mood of America. There is a reason there is so much enthusiasm (psychological and financial) for the freak show of candidates for the 2008 Presidential election. None of them is particularly exceptional, but the mood against George W. Bush has pushed the election cycle forward by almost a year, and he has become increasingly irrelevant.
Launching impeachment proceedings would not only uphold Congress’ constitutional mandate to act as a check and balance on executive power, it would show cojones and “strong leadership” which would work in the Democratic nominee’s favour.
Whatever the reason, Pelosi’s decision to hold back is irrational. The Democrats have a virtual lock on the White House in 2008. What a pity that only when doom is assured does a liberal Republican like Rudy Giuliani become frontrunner for the GOP.SuperCroc divx
