Dawkins in person (via satellite)
Saw Richard Dawkins at the Sydney Writers Festival
with John and others (which was very very poorly planned, I could not go to either of the Ross Gittins talks because the seats filled up hours before they were scheduled to start).
Normally when he’s interviewing people he comes across as very stiff and severe, but he’s actually very affable and funny.
The whole thing was presented as a conversation between Dawkins and someone I can’t remember the name of. They ran through some of his arguments in The God Delusion, and debunked some of the books that were written in response.
The whole thing was a bit of an intellectual circle-jerk though; it was a paid event, so it was preaching to the converted (irony!). I doubt there were any religious people in the audience who were suddenly converted to atheism.
