I couldn’t agree more on Comic Sans — I loathe it.
But Arial?! It’s the most decent of the standard fonts.

Arial is a ripoff of Helvetica. If you blow it up real big you can see the differences between them. Arial doesn’t have the proper stroke widths, and it is a bit crude in comparison to other typefaces.

Interesting article and good to know the history of it.
I work with Swis 721 at work, I quite like that font.

I was taught by my housemate who study typography and design them. He is a wiz at them, just give him a picture of a word and he will tell you what font it is within seconds. He knows all common fonts by heart and can compare or point out which category it belongs.
He absolutely loath Arial, most obvious is look at the R, it is out of area and ugly compared to Helvetica.
But again 99% of all typeface out there are shit., have a flaw, so on.
