CityRail
On Monday, a city-bound train on the East Hills line broke down at Narwee station. Conveniently, this happened just a few stations inbound from mine, about 5 minutes before I got to my station. As far as I can gather, the situation was basically this:

Nobody knew how long it would take to clear, and passengers were just told to wait. It ended up delaying every inbound train on the line, and took over 3 hours to clear. Luckily, CityRail did manage to organise bus services to carry people to Kingsgrove station which has a train turnback facility, meaning outbound trains can terminate at Kingsgrove, and turn around and go back to the city.
Had the Revesby turnback facility, and the 4-track Kingsgrove-Revesby projects been completed, the breakdown would have meant far fewer delays. This is not going to happen until at least 2010. Better get a move along Mr. Iemma et al., people are getting really pissed off.
