Change for the sake of change

Australia’s “big four” banks have a long and well-established reputation for poor service, high fees, and utter contempt for their customers; a renown topped only by our esteemed politicians. Is it any wonder then that they would want to distance themselves from this image.

Still, the National Australia Bank’s recent makeover is no cause for celebration.

The old logo is instantly recognisable and has a long history. Instead of working with this, some whiz-bang design committee has gone as far as possible from the original without removing the red star. The proprietary typeface has been replaced with a character-less lower-case abbreviation of the bank’s name. You can see that they’re trying to appear and modern and cool, but that is in stark contrast to what everyone knows banks to be — conservative, cold, and all about the bottom-line. All in all it seems you can polish a turd, you just end up with a really shiny black one.Pay It Forward dvdripbuy The Shadow Dancer

  • Well I felt the need to comment. Like most things (I need to learn to shut up).

It’s odd how they’ve rebranded themselves to a synonym for ‘steal.’ Anyway, old joke.

(0c? Ah, now I see… 1c… get it? haha not funny)
