As I see it, Islam and Christianity (and most other religions) are Dog Watch trailer Bolt Live Free or Die Hard video the same, fundamentally. They all teach subservience to an unseen authority figure. They are about power and control. All of the myriad tiny differences are trivial in comparison.
Instead of making tolerance and humility the centrepiece of his speech, Jensen just couldn’t help himself, and just had to dog-whistle to placate his more rabid constituents.

Ah yes, for all his talk Jensen seems to know very little about his own religion’s values (he’s even worse than Pell!). I reckon he’s the John Howard of Anglicanism, exploiting social divisions and conservatism.…
Anyway, I disagree with you on the religion statement — It’s a bit too philosophical. The reality is it’s the differences causing all the problems, and most of the wars through.. well.. all of human history.
Could economic growth be a solution? China’s pretty much sidelined religion from society, and look at the growth in it’s living standards. Wow. Who needs morals either?
As Keynes (famously.. although I’m not sure there’s anything he said that isn’t famous) remarked, “It’s better for a man to tyrannise over his bank balance than over his fellow citizen.”
