The West Wing cancelled
NBC Cancels ‘West Wing’ After 7 Seasons
PASADENA, Calif. — The new president on “The West Wing” will be a real short-timer: NBC announced Sunday it was pulling the plug on the Emmy-winning political drama in May after seven seasons.
Apparently the decision was made before John Spencer’s death, but I’m sure that clinched the deal.
The West Wing was a show I had always been meaning to see. I only started watching it last year, but it’s quickly become my favourite show. The characters are engaging, and their flaws make them very real and believable. The quick-paced wit littered throughout the scripts also makes it very quotable. While it’ll be sad to see it go, now seems to be an appropriate time. Without Aaron Sorkin, the show hasn’t been able to reach it’s early season glory days.
There’s going to be an hour-long retrospective, before the series finale. Unfortunately Sorkin is not going to be involved in that. The presidential election takes placed before the end, so I’m guessing we’ll finish with a montage of Santos/Vinick’s inauguration as Bartlet and Co look on. We’ll soon know as it should pop up on channel BT soon after May 14.
Mrs. Landingham Fiderer, what’s next?

I guess commander in chief will supercede it in that genre. The real question is when does the ABC start its West Wings telecast — I know that they’re starting at the start of season 4 but when?

I’m saddened at this news… I have seen every episode to date — Season 7, episode 11 has just aired, and the new season isn’t bad. It does drag a bit — a whole season covering an elecion gets dull.
Sorkin wrote a great series, with engaging characters and plots that swept you up.
Sam Seaborn was my avourite character, and I still rate his “The Streets of Heaven are too full of Angels tonight” as one of the best speeches not delivered in real life.
I’m sad… this show has become a staple. I haven’t felt this way since they stopped making Inspector Gadget (the first time).
Go go Gadget Line-of-Succession!

It’ll probably start when the ratings seasons begins again.
I agree the streets of heaven speech was brilliant. For a Hollywood hack, Sorkin can really write.

I too am disappointed. I watched quite a few episodes of season 1, but then channel nine changed the time slot to a really late time when I had class early the next morning. I will make a point of watching the ABC telecast.
